Ministries

STEWARD BOARD
These members are the spiritual leaders of the church. They are appointed by the Pastor and confirmed by the Presiding Elder of the AME Church. The Steward Board prays and intercedes on behalf of the church and its members, in addition to managing the membership and financial records of the church.

TRUSTEE BOARD
The Trustees are voted into office and are responsible for the physical condition of the building and grounds of the church.

STEWARDESS BOARD
The Stewardess are appointed by the Pastor, they report to the Stewards. They're responsible for maintaining the altar,pulpit dressings and the preparation of the Lord’s Supper. They are also responsible for assisting with Baptisms.

CLASS LEADERS
To serve as a liaison between the pastor and the congregation, to assist in providing spiritual support to the members who have been assigned to classes and also to identify special needs and abilities of various class members and make recommendations to the pastor.

HEALTH MINISTRY
Seek to address the health needs of our congregation and community via education, mini conferences and health fairs to promote a healthy lifestyle.

HOSPITALITY
This committee is responsible for making our guests feel at home.

SOCIAL ACTION
Keep the congregation and community informed about important health issues and healthcare awareness.

INTERCESSORY PRAYER
As Christians, petitions are made before Christ for the healing of the sick, saving of the lost, and providing hope to the hopeless.

KITCHEN COMMITTEE
These persons are responsible for having food prepared and available for special occasions. They also make sure the kitchen is clean and well supplied for all events requiring food.

LADIES OF GRACE
Teaching young ladies the art of grace and manner, and carrying themselves with dignity and grace.

LAY ORGANIZATION
Being led by the spirit and Empowered to serve, will set new goals, and a new agenda for the new century and continue to lead the church from membership to discipleship.

LITURGICAL DANCE
To engage and invite young people to take part in Christ-like opportunities to encourage continuous and active participation in the body of Christ

SONS OF ALLEN
Fellowship, preaching and teaching to reach men.

MISSIONARY SOCIETY
We are called to strengthen our faith and sent to continue the ministry of Jesus Christ by service and witness in the world.

MULTI MEDIA
Ministering the Word of God through cutting edge media; touching the minds and souls of individuals not able to attend worship services.

MUSIC
Music is an integral part of the worship service. We are always seeking members who want to lift up the Lord in Song or with instruments. St. John has five choirs that sing the songs of Zion(ie Senior, Mass, Male, Youth and Praise Team).

CHRISTIAN EDUCATION
Help new members become knowledgeable of the AME worship services and ministries of the church.

NEWSLETTER
Writing in hope that we may inspire, inform, and enlighten you with words that will take you on a journey into the spiritual realm of God.

SUNDAY SCHOOL
To teach, train, nurture, prepare and recruit adults and children in God's Word for Christian service, emphasizing those Christian principles which are essential for effective growth and participation.

TRANSPORTATION MINISTRY
Provides transportation for members and interested persons who may desire to attend services, meetings, conferences and other special events.

USHER BOARD
These are our “doorkeepers” who greet everyone with a smile and a friendly ‘welcoming spirit.’ The ushers are responsible for making sure everyone has a bulletin, envelope, or a fan. They ar in position to meet any need that may arise while in the sanctuary.

YOUNG PEOPLE DIVISION (YPD)
A vision that develops relationships and sustaining a high level of integrity. giving direction, encouragement, possibilities and strategies toward their success by teaching and assisting the youth with their skills to enhance personal goals.

PRISON MINISTRY
Addresses the spiritual needs and provides guidance to persons incarcerated in correctional facilities.

GOLDEN AGE MINISTRY
We are committed to sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and serving our entire community in hospitals, rest homes, with the homeless, and our church family. In order to do this, we are constantly seeking new and innovative ways to share our faith. The Christian life is an amazing journey requiring trust in a God who never changes. We invite you to join us on this incredible yet, challenging journey.

BEE-LIEVERS DAY CAMP
The goal of the church is to provide a bible based summer enrichment program for children in the community and surrounding area through ministering the word of god. Mark 10;14 states "Suffer the little children to come unto me , and forbid them not ; for such is the kingdom of god."

EVANGELICAL OUTREACH MINISTRY
"The harvest is great but the laborers are few." God has charged every child of god to go out into the street and evangalize the word of to a lost and dying world . Our goal is to make sure gods word reaches those who otherwise would not enter into the house hold of faith.

BOYS TO MEN
Teaching & role playing the dos and don't of life, how to deal with peers and making life choices.

CALENDAR COMMITTEE
Responsible for setting up and managing the church calendar on a yearly basis.
